And who would have guessed it would have turned up in a small gas station mini mart?
Yes, a gas station mini mart, just across the border coming into the States from Canada. (On a road trip with SD, Mom and Dog.) Mom was pretty excited about the find, and bought them to give to her parents, (Which is where we are going.) I think they would have appreciated a bottle of wine more.
Anyway, it was a pretty weird mini mart. But, not as weird as the guy behind the counter. He wasn't weird in like a dorky, fun way. He was weird in a creepy, likely-felon kind of way.
He just gave off a really weird vibe, you know? It is hard to describe. It isn't like he said anything bad. But, it is the way he said it.
Like, when we were leaving he said, 'Be safe.' In this totally creepy way. Why would you say be safe anyway? I mean, have a nice day is a typical, stock phrase that people use in customer service. But, do you ever hear your cashiers say 'be safe'?
I mean, maybe if you told them you were going somewhere potentially dangerous or going on a long driving trip, but just randomly?
It is weird. It also seems to imply that you're not safe. And why wouldn't you be safe?
Very weird.
