Post 8: Health issues and 'The To-Do List'

I hate being sick. I mean, who likes it? But, I really hate it. This comes up today, because I am sick.

So, sick I spent an hour and a half in the ER. Thankfully, my friend, who will be referred to as Harvey from here on out, lives only two doors down and could drive me. So, I didn't have to take the bus.

It was horrible. But, I got the medication I needed and I feel better already knowing that I have it.

I felt so much better I decided to go to see a movie with the friend that drove me to the ER. We went to see 'The To-Do List'.

If you haven't seen the trailer, you might not know what it is about.

The story is set in 1993, and the main character is basically your stereotypical over-achieving, goody-two shoes. She doesn't drink, she is clueless about guys and school is her main priority. She goes to a party, sees a guy that she thinks is really hot. Suddenly, school no longer matters to her, her 'my father is a judge' line goes out the window and all she cares about is this guy. He kisses her when she is wasted, and while he thinks she is someone else. She decides she is going to lose her virginity to him, and before she is experienced enough to do that she makes of list of thing she has to try, 'a to-do list'.

It was funny, also awkward. But I didn't really like the fact that all it took was seeing a hot guy for her to betray her best friend, use and manipulate someone who was in love with her, and basically completely give up on who she used to be.

I mean, really? She said made 10 words to him first, and for the first half of the movie he wasn't even really nice to her. He teased her, pushed her in the pool, mocked her and ignored her.

Meanwhile, the guy who was in love with her actually tells her he loves her, asks her out, helps find her a job and defends her. But, she totally blows him off and stands him up to go out with someone else.

I don't know if I would see the movie again, though.

Has anyone else seen the movie? What did you think?

Ever have to go to the ER?
